This is my recommeneded applicator for leather conditioners. It is a piece of sheep leather with the wool still on. The wool is orange as a result of the tanning process and the color will not come out on light colored leathers.
 
Any old rag works too, but this is a really good rag.
 
I recommend keeping it in a small plastic bag once used.
