Leather Tooling is the art of stamping images and patterns in beautiful and permanent low relief. This basketweave pattern is a common motif in traditional American leathercraft. This series of trays each features a unique variation of these patterns, this one is distinguished by its tight, square weave.

This pencil tray is rigid and self supporting, it can be moved around a desk top, and taken in and out of a drawer or cubby with ease to help keep an organized workspace.

Other sizes and styles of tray can be found here.

This is the same, simple rectangle of leather as my standard valet, though given much more time and attention with, bevels, textures stamps, brushes and other specialized tools.

This piece features colors done with spirit dyes which imbue the leather deeply and indelibly. Simpler paints would eventually flake away but the color of this tray is as deep as the engraving.

A simpler version of this same product got my business off the ground, in 2014, when I sat at makeshift workbench wondering what I could do with a small bit of leftover material from another project. This is what I came up with.

Since that day I have made around 3000 and counting. Each by hand, through an ever evolving process.

These humble trays continue to teach me more every day. They don't require any fancy tricks, just good fundamentals of the craft. Simple to learn, but hard to master.

Each of these items is made with that care and intention, so that each can be finer than the last.
