International Policy
These policies are intended to provide security to the buyer, while respecting the time, materials, and effort that go into commissioning a custom work of art. Working internationally provides new challenges and can involve longer wait times with little information. This can be frustrating. These policies will make clear and concise how things will go in the event of a delay.
Cost of Shipping
International shipping will incur additional charges beyond what is shown on my website, which is primarily directed towards US consumers. I am happy to ship my artwork anywhere it is legal to do so as long as you are happy to pay for me to do so.
Import Taxes
It is the full responsibility of the customer to be aware of and to pay all relevant import taxes. I cannot possibly be aware of all international import laws and do not attempt to do so.
Customs
Proper paperwork is provided with all shipments, and retained for six months if it needs to be reissued.
I am unable to provide help if an item is currently being held by customs. Local resources will be more helpful than anything I have access to from here.
Keep an eye on your mail for a letter from customs relating to your shipment. Often delays are due to these letters being missed.
Shipping Timlines
Faster, guaranteed shipping is available on request at a greater cost. My standard quotes will be for economy shipping which has an estimated time in transit of between 2 to 4 weeks. This has a long history of being quite reliable, but on rare occasions this may take much longer. Packages are not considered lost until 12 weeks after last movement. While it is very uncommon to see delays like this, it is quite common for those delays to resolve themselves after some time.
Returns & Exchanges
The same policies apply to international orders as all other orders. My full return and exchange policies can be found here. EU law allows exceptions to return laws for custom made items like those which I do not allow to be returned.
Shipping Carriers
Unless otherwise arranged, I will ship with the United States Postal Service's economy international mail. They however, only handle the package themselves while it remains in the United States. From there, it will be passed on to one of many possible subcontractors, and may be passed on again from there.
Tracking information
Economy international shipping tracking is sometimes incomplete. The subcontractors USPS hires do not always give good tracking updates back to USPS for me to share with you. A package showing halted tracking may well still be moving.
Shipping Insurance
All orders are insured for their full value by the shipping carrier. This shipping insurance is not without limitation. It applies to damage received during transit, or non-delivery as recognized by the shipping provider.
Packaging
All items are packaged in sturdy brown cardboard boxes and wrapped in soft brown paper. Boxes will be outwardly plain except a black ink logo stamp and the shipping label. Packages are not waterproof. If you expect this will be an issue in your climate or season please reach out after placing your order so that special consideration can be taken.
Shipping Delays
Wizened Oak Leather does not guarantee any specific delivery dates unless it has been individually arranged on a case by case basis. Any shipping timelines provided are best estimates with many factors being out of my control.
Guaranteed timelines can be arranged and will come with additional costs for more comprehensive shipping services.
Languages & Translation
Wizened Oak Leather does not attempt to sell in any language except English. If you have read anything on this site in any other language it was translated with an external tool I had no part in.
I do not take responsibility for any misunderstanding or inaccuracy due to that translation. If purchased based on translated item descriptions, all items should be considered to be sold as is.
